Major Bruce Bellamy is responsible for CMPD's hire back program, where retired officers are given part time assignments such as working cold case files.
17 CMPD Officers retired in December of 2012. Major Bellamy called back 3, the other 14 received no call.
The 3 who where called, all African Americans, and the other 14? Did you guess that they are all white?
One white retired officer who didn't get a call, decided to make a call to Major Bellamy and offer his services. Bellamy sputtered, and dodged the officer's question as to why he hand not been called. Finally Bellamy top old him to call a certain CMPD captain.
